Try These Tips To Prepare Some Delicious Recipes

By Brad On April 2, 2010 No Comments

Chicken can often be really bland. There are so many times that I came home from school as a kid and found the same exact thing sitting on the kitchen table. My mom constantly made chicken recipes that consisted of meat, and Italian dressing. That was it! I cringe at the thought of eating this dull dish and I’m certain it makes my taste buds want to cry!

Occasionally she would add roasted carrots, but those would be covered in Italian dressing too, which just ruined the vegetable for me! There are so many other recipes with chicken that are healthy and taste good. It does not have to be the same boring thing all the time.

My mother seemed to be stuck with lack of imagination when it came to her cooking variations which is perplexing considering the huge variety of marinades, sauces and spices readily available. To name a few different sauces that I like to use now with my kids, there are white wine sauces, butter cream, pesto or even teriyaki! You can also really brighten up recipes for chicken with the side dishe’s you chose to use. Add some vegetables with cheese, or cilantro lime rice.

Ground chicken may be employed in a variety of meals, including pasta sauces and tacos. One of the best things about chicken recipes is that they are very flexible and more healthy than other meats. If you are looking for a good meal option for your children, you may want to try chicken, it is a very lean meat. Just make sure to mix it up, or they will get bored of the meat in general. Sometimes, they don’t actually realize they are eating foods that have chicken in them if they are combined with a stew or a soup. Chicken chili and fresh chicken salad are other ways to get protein into your diet in a delicious and healthy way!

In preparation for future meals, think about the versatility of the meat you use. Fry it, roast it, poach it or bake it- the opportunities are endless, and quite tasty if I must say so myself.

Dieting and Portion Sizes

By Brad On July 25, 2009 No Comments

When dieting, so many fail to pay attention to the fact that selecting the right food to eat is not the only thing that you have to worry about. Eating too much of the right stuff will prevent you from losing weight, and might lead you to believe that there is no diet out there that works for you.

When you select healthy foods, you are half way to where you want to be, but you also have to remember that the food portion sizes are just as important as the food itself. That, along with exercise, will truly be the key to shedding those excess pounds.

In fact, if you talk with a doctor they may tell you that food portion sizes are the biggest problems that face dieters.

When you eat out, you may find healthy options on the menu, and those are a great idea when ordering. However, what you may not realize is that the food portion sizes are often way too big, and as a result you are actually packing on more calories than you think. In some cases a smaller portion size of a less healthy menu item would actually have been better for you.

You also have to watch your foods portion sizes when eating lower fat foods. Many people think that because the food is lower in calories that they can eat more. This happens a lot with things like reduced calorie ice creams, cookies or gluten-free cooking.

If you wish to include items like these in your diet just be mindful of the portion size and read the information on the side of the package carefully so that you are aware how much you are actually consuming in terms of calories. If you can’t keep your sizes to the recommended quantities perhaps you should consider skipping them all together.

Weight Loss Plan: The Goal to Go For

By Brad On July 9, 2009 No Comments

Tips For Effective Weight Loss Program

Since excess weight puts you at risk for many health problems, you may need to set some weight loss plans to help avoid those risks and prevent disease.

But what should be your long-term goal? And what are the short term goals you need to set to help you get there? You have a better chance of success if your weight loss plan is reasonable and sensible from the beginning.

Here are some guidelines from the experts in choosing weight loss plans and goals.

1. Be realistic

Most people’s long-term weight loss plans are more ambitious than they have to be.

For example, if you weigh 170 pounds and your long-term plan is to weigh 120, even if you have not weighed 120 since you were 16 and now you are 45, that is not a realistic weight loss goal.

Your body mass index or BMI is a good indicator of whether or not you need to shed pounds. The ideal BMI is between 19 1nd 24.9. If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9, you’re considered to be overweight. You’re technically defined as obese if your number is above 30.

From this point of view, you will need a sensible diet plan that will correspond to the required BMI based on your height, because this is the primary factor that will affect your BMI.

2. Set appropriate objectives

Using a weight loss plan just for vanity’s sake is psychologically less helpful than losing weight to improve health.

You have made a big step forward if you decide to start a diet that includes exercise and eating right so that you will feel better and have more energy to do something positive in your life.

3. Focus on doing, not losing

Rather than saying that you are going to lose a pound this week, say how much you are going to exercise this week. This would definitely be a sensible weight loss plan.

Keep in mind that your weight within a span of a week is not completely in your control, but your behavior is.

4. Build bit by bit

Short-term weight loss plans should not be “pie-in-the-sky.If you’re not used to exercising, then your best weight loss plan this week should be to plan three different one-mile walks nest week.

5. Keep up the self-encouragement

An all-or-nothing attitude only sets you up to fail. Try to be fair and objective when grading your efforts. If you don’t meet all your goals, just press on and set new ones for the next week. You don’t need to be perfect, just move forward consistently to your goal.

After all, self-encouragement should definitely be a part of your weight loss program. Otherwise, you’ll fail in reaching your goal.

6. Use measureable goals

Saying that you are going to be more positive this week or that you are going to really get serious this week is not a goal that you can measure and should not be a part of your weight reduction program.

This is another reason why you should incorporate exercise into your diet and focus on it. You should be able to count up the minutes of exercise in order to be successful in your plan.

The bottom line is, people should make weight loss programs that will only remain just a plan. They have to put it into action by incorporating goals that will motivate them to succeed.

5 a day to stay balanced

By Brad On July 7, 2009 No Comments

There are many reasons why we should include fruits and vegetables in our diets. Fruits and vegetables contain fiber and phytonutrients that contribute to good health. Fiber also known as roughage assists to push food down the digestive tract absorbing water and reducing defecation. Phytonutrients also referred to as phytochemicals are the naturally occurring compounds that are found in plants such as beta-carotene and if not taken may affect our health.

5 a day to stay balanced simply means that to maintain a balanced diet eat at least five or more servings of fruits and vegetables. Vegetables are practically fat free and have no cholesterol. Vegetables may be taken raw or cooked, fresh vegetables contain many vital vitamins minerals that could be destroyed through cooking. So take care when preparing vegetables, its advisable that if it is possible, eat the vegetables in the raw form.

Fruits also contain almost no fat and are completely free from cholesterol. The coconut and avocado, however, contain quite a high percentage of fat and should be avoided.  A bowl of well constructed fruits and vegetables can provide quite a good delicious salad or dessert. Some favorite salads include the Gelatin salads and Aspic salads. They are quite good especially if prepared with the fruit or vegetable juices respectively. Fruits are available in seasons and when not in season use canned, frozen or dried fruits.

A simple way to improve your health is to add fruits and vegetables to the daily diet. This also boosts your flavor and energy. Fruits and vegetables may help reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, cataracts and diabetes.

Fruits and vegetables provide quite a rich source of vitamin A and C, folate and potassium among other small quantity of nutrients. Lack of these nutrients in the diet can lead to deficiency diseases. Some of these diseases include Scurvy. Scurvy Is as a result of vitamin C deficiency. Its symptoms include bleeding of the gums and mucous membrane, spots in the skin especially on the thighs and legs. The person feels generally depressed and looks pale. In severe case of Scurvy there is loss of teeth and open suppurating wounds. This disease can be avoided by taking a whole array of fruits and vegetables that include citrus fruits, bananas, blackberries, tomatoes, artichoke, cucumber, peas, potatoes, corn kale etc.

Vitamin A is another nutrient in a majority of fruits and vegetable. Vitamin A helps in cell reproduction, stimulates immunity and essential to the formation of some hormones. It also helps improve vision, tooth and bone development. It has also been shown to prevent measles. Deficiency of vitamin A can lead to night blindness, poor bone growth and dry skin.

A Variety of Cheese Types

By Brad On June 5, 2009 No Comments

Brie appetizers are not only mouthwatering, but they are so versatile. The oldest recorded evidence of its existence was found in the chronicles of Charlemagne. And here’s another interesting tidbit about Brie cheese… Louis XVI’s last and dying wish was supposedly to have a final taste of Brie.

Are you looking at celebrating an event with your friends and family? However there are literally hundreds of possible combinations for the makeup of the party. The amount of space available and the rooms shape. You want this to be an upscale party. If those aren’t available, then use something seasonal.

Cottage cheese is low in fat and calories and high in protein (and a slow-absorption protein, meaning your body can burn it for longer periods without needing replenishment) and calcium, and it only takes most people less than one cup of it to feel revitalized and filled. Other people have used this food to replace a higher fat or higher carb ingredient in some recipes, such as sour cream, and they say the taste is still there but they also see weight loss results. Nutrients found in one cup of cottage cheese contain an estimated 240 calories, 10 grams of fat, 6 grams of carbohydrates, and 28 grams of protein. One cup of cottage cheese contains approximately 240 calories, 10 grams of fat, 6 grams of carbohydrates, and 28 grams of protein.

Most of us don’t eat the healthy diet we should and want to do better. The FDA has developed the food pyramid to help people learn how to eat the right combination of foods to have a healthier lifestyle. The regular processed variety is 4% fat but you can go with a low fat version that only has 2% fat.

The commercial cottage cheese is actually prepared from curd (not directly from milk) and hence it is usually low in fat. This is also responsible for its different flavor as compared to its natural counterpart. This much quantity of this cheese is sufficient to make you feel filled or satisfied.

The Strangest Weight Loss Ideas

By Brad On May 24, 2009 No Comments

Weight loss ideas are all over the internet (riasztók), some are quite commonsense -like eating healthy and doing a lot of exercise-, but we found some that are quite unnatural or sometimes even shocking. We bring you a list of the most uncommon diets.

10. Cabbage soup diet

You guessed it right. This diet is all about the cabbage soup. You will lose 10 pounds, but you will surely never want to eat cabbage in your entire life again.

9. Tea Diet

In this diet, you are not allowed to eat anything. Instead, you get different kinds of herbal teas 5 times a day. This weight loss program also makes your body get rid of toxins, and after one week you will feel energized and revitalized.

8. Eat 7 times a day

According to this diet, you can eat almost as much as you want (autóriasztó), but only in little pieces. This makes your stomach feel full all through the day, and you won’t feel the urge to eat as much as you normally would.

7. Eat only once a day.

In this weight loss program, you should do just the opposite: eat only breakfast, and nothing else during the day. This requires more self-discipline, but it is also much more effective. You are allowed to chew something (lakásriasztó) if you feel very hungry, but you must not swallow it. If you cannot keep this, you may drink something, too

6. Mega-Bite diet

Popularized by Horace Fletcher, the Mega-Bite diet is all about eating slow. This is accomplished by chewing the food until it becomes liquid, and goes down your throat by itself.

5. Separate the ingredients

This diet lasts for 90 days, and is quite difficult to accomplish. On one day, you can eat only proteins, the next day only carbohydrates, on the third day, a third element, and so on. This kind of separation helps the stomach to digest faster.

4. Caveman diet

Imagine that you are a caveman, and you have to eat like a caveman did. This diet includes a lot of raw foods, vegetables, fruits, sometimes even raw meat.

3. Breathing instead of eating

Have you heard of people that live on air? According to the breatharian diet, the right kind of breathing and a lot of sunrise elevates you to a higher spiritual level, where eating is not necessary any more. They say that eating is only an acquired habit anyway. Follow the way of saints who were able to survive without food or drink for an extended period of time.

2. Tape Worm Diet

Ok, this one is only for the tough. First, you have to swallow some pills that contain tape worms. Then in your stomach, these pills dissolve, and the worms start to live their happy parasite lives inside you. The positive effect is that they help you consume the food you swallowed, thus you are always hungry, but never gain weight. The bad thing is the tapeworm infection you get during the process.

1. The ultimate weight loss program

A patented method and apparatus for reducing obesity will reduce your weight in a matter of days. The device is an inflatable bag that you have to swallow, so that it gets into your stomach. The bag is connected with a long pipe that comes out through your nose. Now if you want to make this work, you have to pump in some kind of liquid into the end of the tube. The liquid then pumps up the bag, and the bag partly fills your stomach. This gives the body a sensation that the stomach is full, and your hunger is gone forever.

Organic food recipes

By Brad On May 7, 2009 No Comments

Credits also go to: Honey Dressing. Do you believe there is anything special about organic food recipes? The only major difference is the quality of the products and their provenience. Organic fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy are indeed tastier, richer in nutrients, vitamins and minerals and totally tolerable by the body. Any food recipe is good as long as you rely only on organic products for ingredients. Don’t believe all the advertising of special cookery books containing only organic food recipes because there is nothing special in them, and you’d waste your money. Here is how you can turn any meal into an organic feast.

First of all, both vegetables and meat are necessary for a dinner course. Many hypermarkets now have special food sections where products have organic certification, and this applies to all items. It is better to buy fresh food, even if the chilled and the frozen variants are not awful either. Although both these preservation procedures are acceptable from the organic point of view, nothing compares to raw fresh fruits and vegetables.

Don’t forget the fact that for organic food recipes, the oil, the vinegar and even the spices ought to be organic as well.

Use the ingredients in the less processed form as much as possible. The extra-virgin oil is surely the only acceptable if we think that vegetable oil loses all its nutrients when passed through several industrial refining processes. Olive oil, sesame oil, palm tree oil are only a few options that you can take into consideration when preparing organic food recipes.

Have a look online and check for tips that could help you improve the quality of the meals. Some of the necessary ingredients may only be available online, and you’d have to place an order and have them delivered.

Organic milk and organic eggs are the basic ingredients for lots of desert organic food recipes. These two kinds of products can be purchased from various sources, but the costs are a bit higher. Nevertheless, organic food recipes work great for the whole family, whether you have small children or not. Statistics indicate that people who stick to organic food enjoy better health and higher energy levels. Too sophisticated organic food recipes are not really necessary, you can actually use the old ones that you normally cook but this time using only elements certified as organic.

Market with organic food

By Brad On May 7, 2009 No Comments

More at: Honey Dressing. The expansion of the organic food market has surprised even the most pessimistic of consumers, and the prospects seem to be even greater for the years to come. Thus, market studies indicate that there will be a doubling of the present sales by 2011. Such statistics have imprinted a new direction to the growth of the organic food market since more and more food producers have taken up these lines of production trying to capitalize on them. Consumers, on the other hand, want to avoid chemicals, antibiotics, hormones, pesticides and the genetically modified organisms that are present in conventional foods, and people are really looking for labels that read ORGANIC.

The extension of the organic food market results from consumers learning that regular non-organic food is dangerous to health by the chemicals it contains. With information there comes the effort of avoiding the products that are so full of chemicals. In time, the exposure of the processed food risks will determine a whole new evolution direction of the organic food market.

And people shop at supermarkets, which is why, retailers have to offer attractive products that are considered organic commodities at a very affordable price. Consequently, when you shop at Wal-Mart you expect to get organic foods at a fairly decent rate.

The organic food market is presently serviced by a huge number of producers worldwide. Export of organic products is not held in too high esteem although it represents an agreeable commercial practice. The responsibility and the emphasis at the same time falls on local producers, farmers or farming groups that address the needs of the local market sector.

The organic food market is in a continuous expansion that goes hand in hand with an increase of productivity. This growth can only be achieved if more and more manufacturers accept the rules and join the system. Risks do come with the rapid development.

The conventional product sales will drop with the higher preponderance of organic foods and the development of the organic food market. The problem here is that even the regular items on the organic food market can become subject to the production haste that will involve some form of automated processing or food treatment, thus, pushing the all organic principles a bit further, making them rather loose in fact.

Therefore, we could be witnessing a softening of the standards that make organic foods so appealing to the health-concerned consumers. Regulations therefore have to remain strict and their implementation by control organs has to be impeccable.

Organic bread

By Brad On May 2, 2009 No Comments

Other Authors: Organic Bread Mix. The popularity of organic foods has reached such peaks that it touches on all food sectors from dairy and meat, to greens and bread. Although organic bread, for instance, is not that widely available, lots of people make it the only choice to include in their diets. To the honest, the emphasis on organic bread gets us closer to a time when bakeries supported the life of communities, long before the automation of the bread production processes by large manufacturers. Whole grain bread from crops that have not been treated with any sorts of chemicals make the only ingredients of handmade organic brain.

Besides the organic bread made from normal whole grain flour, there are kinds of organic bread made exclusively from whole grains. Such a bread variety works great for people with intolerance to wheat or other food sensitivities, but generally speaking a consumer will prefer one kind o of product only. The popularity and sales level for organic bread differs in various parts of the world.

Fortunately, in many farms worldwide, chemicals are not used that much in grain crops, which makes the resulting products a lot better for one’s health.

However, heavily mechanized countries in the West heavily rely on chemicals to increase grain crop productivity and reduce the risk of plant disease.

It is in these parts of the world that the emphasis on organic bread is at the highest. People can even order organic bread online from local bakeries in their home area. Of course the costs of such breads be a little higher but anyone concerned about health and with a middle class budget will be able to afford it. Organic bread is far from being a luxury, but it rather represents a return to the natural, the authentic and why not to the traditional.

Most of the time organic bread producers rely on small family farms for their merchandise. There are products that rely on a combination of organic whole grains and regular grains. However, such bread types cannot claim the title of organic since they are only partially free of artificial elements. Organic bread remains a tradition in many parts of the countryside where the farming activities have kept some of the initial purity of the occupation. Even so, farmers and manufacturers are constantly monitored by authorities that can pass the label of organic food through certification or not.
